Malek, Antonin (Tonda) Three Women's Heads in Front of Prague Oil on canvas. 1987. 60.5 x 50 cm. Signed “MÁLEK” in black with a brush on the lower left and dated; signed again, dated, and titled “Three” on the back of the frame on an adhesive label, along with the dimensions and the artist’s address label. The painting was created during Málek’s time in Cologne, but the Prague city skyline in the background of the three stylized, colorful heads reveals his close connection to his homeland. A few years after completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1957–1963), Málek left Czechoslovakia and initially emigrated to Sweden. Provenance: Private collection, Rhineland-Palatinate - Please request condition reports for the lots, as the condition is only listed in the catalog in exceptional cases. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
