Kirsch, Sarah "Echo" Mixed media on stiff vellum. 1992. 9.1 x 13.3 cm. Signed "Sarah" in pencil lower left, dated and titled. In this small-format, abstract drawing by the poet Sarah Kirsch, the close connection between her literary and visual work is immediately apparent. Delicate lines and subtle traces of color or ink rest on the open paper surface with an almost floating lightness. Similar to her famous nature poetry, Kirsch works here with an economy of means. A few precisely placed strokes are enough to create a dense, almost melancholic atmosphere.
