Herkenrath, Peter Red Chairs Red chalk over embossed print on vellum. 53 x 52 cm. Signed "Herkenrath" in pencil at the bottom left. An unusual combination of chalk drawing and embossed print. In 1945, Peter Herkenrath founded the “Rheinische Künstlergemeinschaft Köln” (Cologne Rhenish Artists’ Association). From 1952 to 1955, he served as chairman of the “Neue Rheinische Sezession” (New Rhenish Secession).
