Glöckner, Hermann Untitled (Variation on the "10 Handprints" series) Color monotype on Japanese paper. 1963/64. 36 x 50 cm. On the reverse, the artist’s signature “HG” appears twice, along with two dates and a (difficult-to-read) inscription. Glöckner writes about the creation of this group of works, noting that it comprises “prints from a linoleum surface that had been cut into curves and partially pulled apart, so that the cut marks themselves formed graphic shapes. These surfaces were also painted with watercolors and printed in such a way that the plate lay on the table and the paper was placed on top of it. The paper was partly dry, partly damp. There was a great deal of experimentation, working with various colors.” (Hermann Glöckner. Ein Patriarch der Moderne, ed. John Erpenbeck, Berlin 1983, p. 80, cited from skd.museum, accessed September 17, 2025). A truly magnificent, expressive print with margins. - Please ask for condition reports for the lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
