Beckmann, Otto "Electronic Computer Graphics" Color print, mounted with film, on aluminum, mounted on cardboard. 1968. 28.6 x 20.5 cm (32 x 24.5 cm). Signed “Beckmann/Graßl,” monogrammed (Cyrillic) “B,” dated and titled, inscribed on the cardboard, and signed again there. An early computer-generated work by Beckmann, also bearing the name of the engineer involved. “Otto Beckmann collaborated with various specialists on his experiments with computer technology: the engineers Alfred Graßl and Gerd Koepf, as well as the cinematographer Gerhard Schedl. By early 1969 at the latest, Beckmann was using the name “Experimentalgruppe ars intermedia” for the group." (zkm.de, accessed September 21, 2026). Colorkey transparencies were used for the print. This computer graphic was exhibited in 1969 at Tendencije 4 in Zagreb, as can be seen from the corresponding customs stamp in the lower right corner. This wonderful “Electronic Computer Graphic” is not a one-of-a-kind piece, but since this type of printing was very expensive at the time, only very few copies exist—probably a maximum of 3–5 prints. Very rare.
