Bechtold, Erwin "85-43" Mixed media on canvas, mounted on hardboard, in an artist's frame. 1985. 21.8 x 24.8 cm (frame). Signed “Bechtold” in pencil at the lower left, with date and title; signed, dated, and titled again on the reverse. With gestural energy and strokes of calligraphic beauty, Bechtold scratches into the still-wet paint with the handle of his brush, revealing the coarse canvas texture beneath. He also creates tension through the white basic form, which sits at a slight angle on the surface. Provenance: Private collection, Berlin - Please request condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
