Kaus, Max Seated Woman in a Strapless Dress Paintbrush in black on handmade paper. 1950. 63.5 x 48.5 cm. Signed “MKaus” in pencil at the bottom center right and dated; also monogrammed “MK” in charcoal on the right and dated again. In close-up and large format, Kaus captures the seated young woman, whose head—partially cropped at the top edge—extends beyond the picture frame. Lively arcs outline the contours of the body; loose and generous brushstrokes structure the summery strappy dress, while the face remains subtly implied.
