[ROYAL ALMANAC]. Royal Almanac, year M. DCC. LXXIV […]. Paris, n.d. [1774]. In-8°, calfskin, ribbed spine decorated with lilies (contemporary binding). This almanac was published in the year of Louis XV’s death and is particularly sought after for the entry on page 553: “Treasurer of Grain, on behalf of the King. Mr. Demirlavaud, Rue S. Martin, across from the Maubué Fountain. "; as soon as this indiscretion, which revealed His Majesty’s business dealings, was noticed, the volume was promptly bound in cardboard. A loose leaf between pp. 144 and 145 (unbound cardboard). Some scuffing on the covers; some water stains; leaf No. 1 detached.
