Olive Tree and Greek Temple, 1963 Watercolor Signed and inscribed by hand: “For Y.G., in memory of a hunting trip” Dimensions: Paper 29.7 × 21 cm (11 ⅝ × 8 ¼ in.) — Image: to be specified Condition: good condition, unframed Provenance: Yves Guérin’s guestbook, compiled between 1963 and 1992 (single-owner provenance; the dedications place the collector in the casino circles of the Riviera and Dinard). Description: An olive tree in front of a Greek temple—a classic Mediterranean landscape, in the style of Douking’s paintings. Born Georges Ladoubée, he was a painter and theater set designer, listed in the Bénézit for his landscapes and rustic scenes, and director of the Comédie de Provence in Aix (1953–1956). He also pursued a celebrated career as an actor in theater and film—notably in Buñuel’s *The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie*—and participated in the artists’ sundials project in Coaraze, in the Nice hinterland. Hand-painted and signed in the collector’s guestbook.
