Note: Bruno Perramant, a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts, offers a highly personal approach to painting, rich in literary, philosophical, and even cinematic references. He describes his work as a reaction to the image-saturated world in which we live and considers painting to be a physical experience rather than an image. His work with color and his use of tight framing borrowed from cinema encourage reflection—an experience of thought. The work presented here follows the “brown forest” and the “Mezzo” series and refers to Dante’s Divine Comedy: “Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita” (In the midst of the journey of our life, I found myself in a dark forest.) This poetic, political, philosophical, and spiritual epic begins with a sense of geographical and moral disorientation. The use of this format and framing here is like an invitation to enter this forest, which seems impenetrable and compels us to pause and question ourselves. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions at the most prestigious institutions in France and abroad. In France, he is notably represented by the In situ Fabienne Leclerc gallery.
