# Patrick BAILLY-MAÎTRE-GRAND (born in 1945). "Les Herbes," 2002. Photographic triptych signed, dated, and numbered EA I to III/III on the back (stains on one of the three panels). Each panel: Height: 102 cm - Width: 80 cm Provenance: - purchased in 2014 directly from the artist, Strasbourg; - private collection, Paris. Note: Trained as a scientist, Patrick Bailly-Maitre-Grand began his career in photography in 1980, working with complex processes such as the daguerreotype. His compositions reveal simplified worlds reminiscent of certain Japanese haikus: short poems that invite contemplative meditation. Our triptych thus invites the viewer to contemplate these grasses set in motion by the wind: each guided in random directions, yet all in harmony. His work, widely represented in French and international public collections, has been exhibited notably at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, at MoMA in New York, at the Victoria Museum in Melbourne, and at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Strasbourg, which dedicated a retrospective to him in 2014 (“Colles et chimères”). Her photographic work is currently represented by several galleries in France and abroad: the Galerie Baudoin Lebon in Paris, the Galerie Lucien Schweitzer in Luxembourg, the Galerie Tagomago in Barcelona, and the Galerie Michel Soskine in Madrid and New York. Bids will be made inclusive of tax. VAT at 5.5% is recoverable on the hammer price and fees for taxable buyers and in the event of export outside the EU.
