Mixed media on canvas, signed and dated lower right, titled, dated, and countersigned on the back (minimal soiling and a small crack in the center). Bears a shipping label on the stretcher for New York from the Delamare Cie shipping agency. Height: 97 cm - Width: 146 cm Provenance: - auction at Maître Binoche in Paris, - private collection of a member of the La Peau du Chat collectors’ collective, then passed down through the family. Note: Jan Voss attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1955 to 1960 before settling permanently in Paris, where he collaborated notably with Christo on the magazine KWY. He creates within a playful and chaotic space, the main subject on the canvas formed by intertwined, airy patterns and lines against a white or colored background. Critics associate his work with Narrative Figuration, although his repeated pictograms and symbols are more reminiscent of Paul Klee. His first solo exhibition in Paris took place at the Fleuve Gallery in Paris.
