Füger,” inscribed in the center with: “Klopstock’s Messiah, Third Canto,” and signed on the right with “Gestochen von J. F. Leybold.” Date: 19th century Description: Satan disturbs the dreams of the sleeping Judas. The illustration depicts a scene from the third canto of Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock’s heroic poem, an epic in 20 cantos, published in 1773.
