Lower center, additional inscription: "Il est esteint, & il la brufle." Date: 1649 Description: Depiction of a cartouche with a banner. Large waves crash around a building. The sky is lit by the sun’s rays breaking through the clouds. The sheet shows signs of dust and dirt consistent with its age. Subtle brownish discoloration appears in places within the image, but is particularly prominent along the left edge of the plate. The sheet is soiled and creased, especially in the upper right corner. The sheet has been trimmed 0.8 cm from the platemark on the left, 1.4 cm at the bottom, and 1.5 cm on the right and top. On the reverse, the sheet has been reinforced by gluing a paper margin. The writing on the reverse shows through the sheet.
