K. WOLF (1901–1993), Trees on a Slope in a Woodland Area, 1935, Watercolor Karl Wolf (1901 Munich – 1993): Trees on a Slope in a Woodland Area, 1935, Watercolor Technique: Watercolor over pen drawing on paper Inscription: Signed lower left: “Karl Wolf.” Dated lower right: “July 24, 1935.” Date: 1935 Description: Detail of a landscape featuring a view of a pleasant, summery forest. The ground is covered with lush bushes and shrubs in dark green, from which a few tree trunks grow upward. The artwork depicts a forest scene with several slender tree trunks rising from dense, green undergrowth. The trees are painted in natural brown tones, while the foliage shimmers in various shades of green. The composition is vertically oriented, emphasizing the majestic height of the trees. Smaller plants and grasses are visible in the foreground, rendered with fine lines. The lighting is soft, and the interplay of light and shadow creates a harmonious atmosphere. The background remains indistinct, lending the work a sense of depth. The painting technique combines watercolor with fine ink lines, which give the scene a lively texture.
