F. JODL (1805-1882), Church of Our Lady in Oberwesel, Pencil Ferdinand Jodl (1805 Munich - 1882 ibid.): View of the Liebfrauenkirche church in Oberwesel, 19th century, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Date: 19th century Description: View of the Gothic basilica in Oberwesel with the choir in the foreground and the imposing silhouette of the west tower in the background. The three-aisled basilica without transept with west tower and choir in the reductive Gothic style typical of the late Gothic period and influenced by the architecture of the mendicant orders is relatively short in length, but exceptional in its slenderness and steepness. This impression is further emphasized by the vertical format of the sheet. The architectural painter Jodl skilfully captures every detail of the imposing building. Keywords: Church, Gothic, 19th century, Romanticism, Architecture, Germany, Size: Paper: 23,3 cm x 16,5 cm (9,2 x 6,5 in) Condition: Good condition. The sheet has been rolled onto paper and is slightly wavy in the area of the upper margin. The left margin is slightly damaged in the area of the lower corner.
