In the foreground of the scene, the viewer sees three figures busily at work. One figure is carrying a landing net, a woman appears to be lifting baskets, and another figure is pulling a heavy net out of the water. In the middle ground, a ship floats on the water, and a fortress borders the scene on the left. The silhouette of a town appears in the background.
