IGNÁC THEODOR PETERA A SYNOVÉ, VRCHLABÍ, circa 1899, original historic luxury carriage from the renowned manufacturer IGNÁC THEODOR PETERA A SYNOVÉ, VRCHLABÍ. The Bohemian company was founded in 1864 by Ignatz Theodor Petera and evolved from a saddlery into a respected manufacturer of vehicles, including high-quality luxury carriages and sleighs. Starting in 1908, the company also began producing its first automobile bodies. As early as 1911, the factory received a prestigious commission from the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I. The company’s tradition was later continued at the same location by ŠKODA. The carriage on offer is in remarkably good condition and has been preserved largely in its original state. Of particular note are the original upholstery and numerous preserved period and handcrafted details. The elegant design and high-quality craftsmanship impressively demonstrate the manufacturer’s sophisticated art of carriage-making.
