Fuchs, Ernst My Unicorn Pegasus Bronze with a dark brown and gold patina on a bronze plinth, mounted on a black marble plinth. 2003. 33 x 18 x 34 cm. Signed “E. Fuchs” and dated on the bronze plinth during casting, as well as bearing the (indistinct) foundry mark “STRASSACKER.” Edition of 300 numbered copies. Ernst Fuchs fuses the two mythical creatures, the unicorn and Pegasus, into a single bronze sculpture. “These two myths, however, have united in my work; even the horn, in its resemblance to Lohengrin’s swan, has become recognizable as a sign of its arrival from the Grail.
