Kopfermann, Sigrid "Berlin" Acrylic on canvas. 1998. 58 x 67 cm. Signed "S. Kopfermann" in green-brown paint in the lower left corner; signed again "Sigrid Kopfermann" in black marker on the reverse; dated, titled, and inscribed. Vibrant green, yellow, and blue repeatedly allow the white of the primer to show through, creating an airy, light, and at the same time highly dynamic impression. “These paintings spring from an abundance of color. Color swells, bubbles, and gushes forth in these paintings as if this were its inexhaustible source, as if color were constantly being created anew right here and now, as we look at them” (Wieland Schmied, Catalog of the Sigrid Kopfermann Retrospective, Orangerie Hannover, 1983). In 1998, Kopfermann was staying in Berlin; this painting was created during that time. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse - Please request condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
