Leber, Wolfgang Untitled Acrylic on canvas. 1990. 60 x 65 cm. Signed "W. LEBER" in blue with a brush on the lower right; signed again, dated, and labeled "Acrylic" in black chalk on the reverse. Vertical lines divide the painting into thirds; angular swaths of color continue Leber’s exploration of shifts in perspective and overlapping planes. The anonymous figure appears trapped, as if in a hall of mirrors reflecting urban life. The artist studied in the graphic arts class at the Meisterschule für das Kunsthandwerk Berlin-Charlottenburg beginning in 1957 and at the Berlin University of the Arts beginning in 1961. He was prevented from continuing his studies due to the construction of the Berlin Wall. From 1962 to 1964, he worked as a graphic designer at the Volksbühne Berlin.
