Haase, Volkmar Vertical Flow Stainless steel on a steel plinth, mounted on a gray marble plinth. 1998/99. 53 x 14 x 8 cm. Signed “HAASE” on the plinth. Since the 1980s, softer accents, curves, and undulations have complemented Volkmar Haase’s formal vocabulary—which had previously been defined by geometric, angular elements—and are also prominently featured in this sculpture. The flowing transitions between the forms create a lively dynamism that, in combination with the clear materiality of the stainless steel, generates a unique tension. This stainless steel sculpture illustrates a further development of his artistic oeuvre, which has shaped public spaces since the late 1950s. Total height including plinth: 53.2 cm. Rare.
