Natalia LL Nine Gouaches 9 compositions. Gouache on black cotton fabric, each mounted on vellum. 1980–83. 30 x 21 cm (sheet size). Each is signed “Natalia LL” in pencil at the bottom center of the backing paper, dated, and numbered (not consecutively). Symbolic, like notations of states of consciousness, the linear compositions glow against the deep black background. “Art, which is an unusual product of man, charming independent galaxies of spirit formed from elements of matter, is simultaneously the place where all of man’s intuitions and longings appear with exceptional suggestiveness.” (Natalia LL, 1984, cited from nataliall.com, accessed August 31, 2026). Her works are considered milestones in Polish conceptual art as well as in neo-avant-garde feminist art in Eastern Europe. Through the media of photography, drawing, performance, and video art, she analyzed and critiqued the aesthetic and erotic aspects of consumer society. In 1970, together with Andrzej Lachowicz, Zbigniew Dłubak, and Antoni Dzieduszycki, she founded the PERMAFO Gallery and artist group in Wrocław (Breslau), which existed until 1981. – Included: A portrait photograph of the artist.
