Roth, Dieter Print with Cocoa Color silkscreen print and cocoa powder on cardboard in a clear plastic sleeve. 1968. 70 x 100 cm. Signed “DITER ROT” and dated (faded) on the lower right of the bag; indistinctly marked on the upper right. Edition of 50 numbered copies. Dobke 100. Published and produced by Hartmut Kaminski, Düsseldorf, in a total edition of 60 copies, each of which is unique due to the cocoa powder and its intended metamorphosis over the years. The slow decomposition process causes the surface of the material to change; fat seeps out and penetrates the cardboard, resulting in entirely new, unpredictable effects in the artwork according to the inherent laws of organic decay. Each copy was also inscribed by Roth with a handwritten sentence (faded here). When read sequentially in numerical order, all these phrases together form a story by Dieter Roth. Magnificent example. Provenance: Galerie Levy, Frankfurt/Main (with its adhesive label on the back of the frame) Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
