Guest Book of the Lietzow Gallery, Berlin, 1971–1991 101 watercolors and drawings by various artists in different techniques, some collaged on 128 sheets of handmade paper, some mounted, in a guestbook with a black leather binding. 1971–91. 28.5 x 24 cm (book). All drawings are signed, dated, and some include dedications or text. The Galerie Lietzow, established in 1970, became another legendary gallery and meeting place in Berlin (see also Lots 7164 and 7184). Founded by Godehard Lietzow and Karl-Horst Hartmann, it was regarded as a place of artistic freedom and shaped the West Berlin art scene, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s. Galerie Lietzow provided a platform especially for younger and, at the time, largely unknown artists, presenting their works to the public. Starting in 1971, the gallery kept a guestbook in which, over a period of 20 years, 53 different artists—many of them multiple times—immortalized themselves with drawings and full-fledged works of art, often accompanied by personal notes to the gallery owners. With its wealth of diverse works, the book represents a unique form of collective production as a total work of art. It includes works by: Peter Ackermann (4), Frederic Amat (2), C.E. Beck (3), Wolfgang Bier, Lutz Brockhaus, Holger Bunk, Luis Caballero (6), Martin Dittberner, Jörg Eberhard (2), Erwin Eisch, Paul Eliasberg, Stephan Elsner (2), Lothar Fischer, Ulrich Fleig (2), FOTIS, Klaus Fußmann, Horst Haack, Anke Holfeld, Alfred Hrdlicka, Werner Knaupp, Fritz Köthe, Oskar Koller, Henning Kürschner (4), Yuri Kuper, Karl-Ludwig Lange, Luis Lemos, Godehard Lietzow, Finn Lyngaard, Guiseppe Madonia (4), Bernhard Maroscyk, Marwan (3), Albert Merz (6), Klaus Moje, Kunito Nagaoka, Heinrich Richter (4), Jürgen Sage (3), Salomé (2), Axel Sander (3), Hella Santarossa, Hermann Schenkel (10), Joachim Schmettau, Paula Schmidt (2), Thomas A.
