Niemeyer-Holstein, Otto Standing Nude from Behind Oil on hardboard. Probably around 1970. 90 x 70 cm. On the reverse, monogrammed “ONH” in pencil (probably in the artist’s own hand) and marked with the catalog number “0621” in black marker; typographically labeled on an attached slip of paper and marked with the number “220.” Soldner 0621. With a forceful gesture, Niemeyer-Holstein scratches into the wet paint, thereby bringing out the contours and details of the standing female nude seen from the back, while the female figure standing in the left half remains only a shadowy outline. In the 1970s, the artist created further comparable depictions of female nude backs (see Soldner 2185 and 3542, 1971/1977). Provenance: Private collection, Berlin - Please request condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
