Niemeyer-Holstein, Otto Zakopane Oil on painting board. 1957. 49.5 x 66 cm. Inscribed "WV 0584" on the reverse in blue with a felt-tip pen (by another hand?). The winter landscape shimmers in light, delicate colors. Using a stippling brushstroke and, in places, dry paint application, the artist renders the motif, finding the most subtle nuances to express the mood, the twilight, and the atmospheric quality of his landscape. “The motif is spiritualized through the language of colors.
