Strässer, Herbert Harlequin Bronze with green patina, mounted on a round bronze plinth. 1960. 34.6 x 7.4 x 7.4 cm. Monogrammed "H. ST." and dated on the reverse, at the lower edge. An important sculpture from Strässer’s early Cubist work. With precision and focus, the artist captures the essence of the slender figure of the standing Harlequin. The bronze, viewable from all angles, captivates with its beautifully abstracted form—clearly based on the human figure—and its smooth surface. Its dynamic combination of gently curved contours and the sharp edges of protrusions and recesses invites the viewer to turn the sculpture and touch it. A magnificent cast with a beautifully accentuated patina. Provenance: The artist’s estate - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
