Maurice BUFFET (1909–2000). Two horsemen hunting deer in the forest. Mounted under glass. As seen: Height: 37 cm - Width: 54 cm Note: A master glassmaker, Maurice Buffet devoted fifteen years to the art of stained glass in Chartres, Orléans, Tours, and Paris. He studied stained-glass techniques at the Lorin workshops and later at the workshops of Francis Gruber’s father, a French Expressionist painter. He then turned to painting, becoming a member of numerous groups such as “Les trois dimensions” and “La poésie du réel,” and exhibited in 1946 at the Galerie Carmine in Paris. Although he is little known to the general public, his works can be found in French collections—including those of the City of Paris and the Musées d’Île-de-France—as well as in Frankfurt and abroad, particularly in the United States.
