KJAERHOLM, POUL. "PK9" Chair. Designed in 1960. Early version: E. Kold Christensen, Denmark, 1960s/1970s. Seat shell made of molded plastic, professionally reupholstered in leather in 2003 in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). Three-legged base made of matte chrome-plated spring steel. The underside of the metal frame bears the rare early manufacturer’s stamp “EKC” (E. Kold Christensen) as well as the lettering “DENMARK.” Dimensions: H. 77 cm. Seat height approx. 42 cm. Good overall condition. The leather, reupholstered in 2003, is in well-maintained condition with slight signs of wear and a beautiful patina. The historic frame shows minor signs of oxidation as well as slight abrasion around the legs. Pieces from E. Kold Christensen’s original production run are among the most sought-after versions of this design classic, as they were produced in relatively small batches before Fritz Hansen took over production.
