Inscribed with the following: “Walking while formulating a thought, then putting it down on paper at the reading and writing desk eliminates the need to sit down.” Facsimile signature Uecker 82 and inscribed “Günther Uecker Standing Desk ‘LETTERA’ Rosenthal Einrichtung.” With the “Lettera” standing desk, the artist and co-founder of the ZERO group designed a highly functional and, at the same time, conceptual object for the Rosenthal Einrichtung edition. The graphically austere construction of black-lacquered wood is characterized by clearly defined, intersecting wooden struts that lend the piece an architectural presence. The object uniquely combines sculpture, design, and poetry: The integrated inscription reflects the active, dynamic process of thinking and writing while standing.
