NÄGELE, REINHOLD (1884–1972) “Dutch Pasture” 1911 Etching on handmade paper. 23 x 17 cm (plate dimensions). Frame, H x W: 43 x 33 cm. Monogrammed and dated “R. Nägele 1911” in the lower right corner of the plate. Signed “R. Nägele” in pencil by hand in the lower right corner below the image and titled “Holl. Weide” in the lower left corner. A fine etching by Reinhold Nägele from 1911. The work depicts a lively Dutch landscape scene with a characteristic windmill in the background, groups of figures in traditional costume, and participants in the dance in the foreground. Here, Nägele combines, in his typical manner, a narratively rich composition with graphic precision. Bibliography: See Reinhardt, 1911.24
