KERKOVIUS, IDA (1879–1970) “Garden in Hofheim” Color silkscreen print on sturdy paper. Image dimensions approx. 49.5 x 60.5 cm. Signed “Ida Kerkovius” in pencil on the lower right; numbered “36/120” on the lower left. Copy 36 of an edition of 120 prints. On the reverse, on the back of the frame, bears the gallery and framing label “Kunsthaus Fischinger, Stuttgart.” In the original frame from Kunsthaus Fischinger. 72 x 84 cm. Ida Kerkovius is considered one of the outstanding artistic figures of classical modernism in Germany. As a master student of Adolf Hölzel in Stuttgart and a graduate of the Bauhaus in Weimar, she combined the constructive formal language of the avant-garde with an unmistakable, expressive color dynamic in her work. This color silkscreen print, *Garten in Hofheim*, captivates with its rhythmic composition and luminous, pastel-like colors. In harmoniously coordinated swaths of color, Kerkovius captures the flora and architecture of the garden, simplifying the forms and condensing them into a poetic, abstract overall impression. In very good, mint-condition original state with vibrant colors. The print is mounted under a mat.
