WARHOL, ANDY (1928–1987) “Committee 2000” 1982 Color silkscreen on Lenox Museum Board. Sheet dimensions: approx. 76 x 51 cm (frame dimensions: approx. 113 x 83 cm). Signed “Andy Warhol” in pencil in the lower right corner. Numbered “1511/2000” in the lower left corner. Bears the publisher’s and printer’s dry stamp in the lower left corner (Rupert Jasen Smith, New York). Printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York; published by Committee 2000, 2000 Inc., Rochester, New York. Catalog raisonné: Feldman/Schellmann II.289. Still life featuring stacked festive glasses and champagne flutes, as well as confetti, on a light background. The print was created as a commissioned work to support “Committee 2000,” which was raising funds to prepare for the turn-of-the-millennium celebrations. Typical of Warhol, fine, colored drawing lines in vibrant hues are superimposed here on flat screen-print halftones. Mounted under glass in a profiled, bluish-glazed wooden frame. The paper is in beautiful, fresh condition; the colors are very well preserved. Isolated, minimal age-related surface marks on the paper at the edges; overall in very good condition.
