HAUSNER, RUDOLF (1914–1995) “Adam Well Protected” 1994 Bronze, with a brown patina and partially gilded or polished. Mounted on a square, dark gray-black veined marble base. Height of the bronze: 12 cm; total height with base: approx. 20.5 cm. Foundry mark on the reverse, to the right of the shoulder: venturi arte. Signed, numbered, and stamped on the reverse: R. Hausner 762 / 1250. Rudolf Hausner is one of the most significant representatives of the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism. His central figure, “Adam,” appears throughout his entire body of work as an autobiographical artistic figure and symbol of modern man. In the sculpture “Adam Well Protected,” Hausner combines his characteristic male head with a turban-like, protective head covering. The work was cast at the renowned Venturi Arte art foundry in Bologna. Very good, well-maintained overall condition with a beautiful, even patina. The gilded/polished turban has a subtle sheen. The marble base is intact, with slight, age-related signs of wear on the underside.
