LOHÉ, YVES (1947) "Two Fish in a Coral Reef" Bronze, patinated and partially polished, combined with solid art glass, dyed in vibrant shades of blue, yellow, and green. Set on an irregular, relief-carved bronze plinth shaped like a seabed with stylized wave or coral structures. A vertically soaring, maritime composition. A large angelfish or coral fish made of polychrome art glass rises from the organically shaped bronze plinth. The artful layering of colors flows seamlessly from a deep ocean blue through a rich green to a bright yellow at the tips of the fins. Nestled against the glass body is a smaller, intricately detailed fish made of patinated bronze, whose elaborately textured dorsal fin soars dynamically upward. Signed “Lohe” on the back of the blue glass body. H: approx. 46 cm. In very good, undamaged original condition. The bond between the glass and bronze is secure. The glass element displays a brilliant play of color and is free of chips or cracks; it features the air bubble inclusions typical of the manufacturing process within the solid glass.
