LOHÉ, YVES (1947) "Seagulls Flying Over the Waves" Bronze, patinated and partially polished, combined with solid art glass, dyed in shades of blue, amber, and opal. Mounted on an irregularly shaped, relief-carved bronze plinth. An expressive, horizontally oriented composition. Perched atop an organically structured bronze plinth—which depicts a stylized, dynamic wave surface—is a gracefully rendered bronze seagull in full flight. Above it, supported by a discreet mounting, rises a second seagull figure in an identical flying pose, masterfully crafted from multicolored, semi-transparent glass that creates a special sense of depth when backlit. The bronze plinth is hallmarked “Lohe” on the edge. The glass body of the upper seagull is signed “Lohe” on the side. HxL: approx. 18/52 cm. In excellent original condition. The bronze patina is partially and attractively lightened and undamaged. The glass element has no chips, cracks, or chips; it features the fine air bubble inclusions and flow patterns typical of this manufacturing process.
