(Louis JOU). [LARGUIER (Léo)]. JEANNE D'ARC. Les Baux, Louis Jou, 1944. Folio-sized collection of 17 plates, loose sheets in an illustrated folder. Large album PRINTED IN A RUN OF 110 COPIES, ALL NUMBERED; this is one of 60 copies on Green & Son-style laid paper, depicting all the stages of Joan of Arc’s life in 17 illustrations, from her birth to her death. Louis Jou explains in the preface to the print run: “The writer (Larguier) has kept me waiting for two years… So I have resolved to handle the printing all by myself… lacking as I am the necessary equipment, and unable to travel since I am a prisoner of my own freedom, deemed a danger to the fatherland…”. A fine copy, as published. (Sheet No. 88).
