In-4°, fawn half-shagreen with corner pieces, ribbed spine decorated with rocaille metalwork, gilt title, cover and spine (J.F. Barbance). The volume features extensive full-color illustrations, including, in addition to illustrated headpieces, initials, and tailpieces, 19 exquisite full-page portraits “that bear the mark of an irony that stops just short of caricature.” A unique edition of 150 numbered copies, all on Arches paper; this one is inscribed to Jean Stern.
