In-4°, chocolate-colored morocco leather, quadruple gilt fillet on the inside, garnet moiré endpapers, cover and spine, edges gilt on endpapers (Creuzevault). A masterpiece by Louis Jou, whose ornamentation consists solely of combinations of letters. ONE OF THE 20 NUMBERED COPIES ON JAPON PAPER, illustrated with a woodcut portrait of Ronsard on the title page and numerous ornamental designs composed of intertwined letters. “A work of pure typography: neither indentation nor protrusion; quatrains and tercets are framed by capital letters printed in red, which harmonize the whole in its simplicity” (Feuille No. 55). A VERY BEAUTIFUL COPY IN CREUZEVAULT MOROCCAN LEATHER.
