(Lyon) - [DUFLOT (J)]. THE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN OF LYON… by a society of men of letters. Lyon, subscriptions available at the offices of L’Homme de la Roche, 1839. In-8, blue half-shagreen (contemporary binding). A delicate book, full of propriety, witty, and imbued with a certain flavor of the high society of the time. The author sought to immortalize eleven prominent women of Lyon and had lithographed portraits made for the three most beautiful. A very rare booklet, featuring the ladies’ real names written in ink and a handwritten note signed by the author stating “PRINTED IN 25 COPIES.” A fine copy, untrimmed.
