MELLY BROTHERS 18K gold (750) pocket watch, white enamel dial, black minute track, hour markers in black-painted Roman numerals, gilded Louis XV-style hands. Bezel engraved with half-spheres. Hinged case back in 18K gold (750 thousandths) engraved with half-spheres and round white stone inlays; at the center, an enamel miniature depicting a woman near a spring with two doves. Mechanical movement with manual winding via key, openworked balance cock, rosette for adjusting the rate, fusee and chain system, verge escapement, marked “FRES. MELLY PARIS.” The watch was non-functional at the time of appraisal; there is no guarantee of future functionality or the condition of the parts. Slight scratches on the case and glass; the glass needs to be reattached; a few scratches on the painted decoration. Late 18th century Diameter 40 mm Gross weight 46.6 grams
