GOMZ | VOOMP II Pioneer 1934 Estimate: €12,000–14,000 Year: 1934 Serial No.: 256 Condition: B- English: The VOOMP II Pioneer is the first Leica II copy made in the Soviet Union. It was manufactured by the Union of Optico-Mechanical Companies (V.O.O.M.P.) in Leningrad. This factory became GOMZ in 1932, which eventually became LOMO. The VOOMP cameras are all dated and numbered and are very rare and historic Soviet cameras. The camera offered here is one of very few surviving cameras from 1934; it is in 100% original condition, complete with the original VOOMP Elmar copy 3.5/50mm lens (no. 342) and the matching lens cap engraved “PIONEER.” The early case is not stamped but appears to be the original case. German: The VOOMP II Pioneer was the first Soviet copy of the Leica II. It was manufactured by the Association of Optical-Mechanical Enterprises (V.O.O.M.P.) in Leningrad. This company gave rise to GOMZ in 1932 and later to LOMO. All VOOMP cameras are dated and numbered and are among the rarest and most historically significant Soviet cameras. The camera offered here is one of the few surviving examples from 1934 and is in completely original condition. It comes with an original VOOMP Elmar replica 3.5/50mm lens, No. 342, and a matching lens cap engraved with “PIONEER.” The early carrying case is not stamped, but is likely the original case.
