KMZ | Fed-6 Black Prototype Estimate: €6,000–7,000 Year: 1992 Condition: B English: An important prototype representing one of the final attempts to modernize the traditional Soviet Fed rangefinder camera. Developed shortly before and during the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Fed-6 TTL was intended as a successor to the long-established Fed-5 series, incorporating a completely redesigned upper housing, modernized controls, and an innovative through-the-lens (TTL) exposure metering system similar to that of the Leica M5. The distinctive black-finished camera features a newly designed top plate with prominent “ФЭД 6” and “TTL” engravings, a rectangular front display window, a modified rangefinder with diopter adjustment, and an experimental TTL metering system. The design called for an electronically controlled shutter with speeds up to 1/2000 of a second. Fitted with the special black Industar-61 L/D 2.8/55mm lens, no. 9200005, featuring a prototype mount and cap. Only a very small number of Fed-6 TTL prototypes are documented, and the model never entered commercial production. This example is in attractive original condition with characteristic signs of age and use. An exceptionally rare and historically significant Soviet camera prototype, representing the final stage of Fed rangefinder development. Literature: USSRPhoto, Fed-6 TTL Prototypes, documenting lens no. 9200005.
