Seischab, Nuremberg | Esco Estimate: €12,000–14,000 Year: c. 1922 Condition: B English: The Esco belongs to a small group of highly ambitious European 35mm cameras developed shortly before and during the emergence of the Leica system. With its enormous film capacity, compact 35mm format, and sophisticated mechanical construction, it represents a remarkable and highly original approach to miniature photography. A particularly rare version featuring an external geared frame counter mechanism mounted on the top plate. The exposed counter wheel is graduated 4–32 and forms part of the mechanical counting system for the unusually large number of exposures possible with the camera. This external counter arrangement is known from only a very few surviving examples and differs clearly from the more commonly encountered Esco version, in which the counting mechanism is concealed within the body. With Steinheil Cassar no. 168578. An exceptionally rare and technically fascinating early 35mm camera, preserved in perfect, original condition.
