Case: 18K yellow gold tonneau-shaped case with integrated bezel secured by five visible screws, screw-down case back, case serial numbered 2371609. Originally designed by Gérald Genta in 1976, the IWC Ingenieur SL became one of the most distinctive luxury sports watches of its generation, combining bold geometric lines with a highly recognisable integrated bracelet. Introduced in the 1980s, the so-called “Skinny” Ingenieur retained the essential characteristics of Genta’s design in a more restrained 34 mm case. The present ref. 9230, crafted in 18k yellow gold, features the distinctive graph paper dial, whose finely textured grid pattern has become one of the collection’s most recognisable features. An elegant and increasingly appreciated interpretation of a great watchmaking design.
