428 - A Louis XVI-style mantelpiece set consisting of a clock and a pair of candlesticks. The clock features a rotating dial made of gilded bronze set in white and turquoise blue marble. The movement is housed within a column-shaped urn. The cut-glass body is flanked by four lyre-shaped uprights and topped by a roof decorated with fleurs-de-lis. In the center is a medallion bearing an enameled plaque inscribed “THURET à PARIS.” The hour and minute rings are white enamel. On either side are two winged cupids. The entire piece rests on a sculpted base decorated with a row of pearls and floral scrolls and adorned with six spindle-shaped feet. The white marble cassolettes with gilded bronze trim rest on three curved legs ending in clogs and topped with mascarons. Clock: H. 44 L. 28 P. 15 cm. Cassolettes: H. 32 cm. Gilding restored.
