[ILLUSTRATED] Maurice RAYNAL - Juan Gris - Twenty Paintings Published by “l’effort moderne,” Paris, 1920—An extremely rare first edition of this issue of *Maîtres du cubisme* dedicated to the Spanish painter Juan Gris, one of 100 numbered copies on laid paper, a single print run. A beautiful folio volume, presented in a cardboard slipcase with laces; the slipcase has some wear, but the interior is in fresh condition and, most importantly, complete with all 20 magnificent plates. A fine copy of this publication, which has become virtually impossible to find, particularly due to its limited print run. The author had made a name for himself as one of the most ardent defenders of Cubism alongside Guillaume Apollinaire.
