[ART DECO] [OENOLOGIE] Paul IRIBE - White and red; Blue white red; Pink and black Paris, Établissements Nicolas, 1930-1932. - Complete set of these 3 folio-sized, stapled brochures. These advertising brochures were designed to promote and defend French wines against foreign beverages, and wonderfully illustrated by Paul Iribe in a very Art-Déco style. The first volume, Rouge et blanc, features 10 full-page illustrations with accompanying text by Georges Montorgueil. The second, Rose et noir, is subtitled "le Mauvais génie" (The Evil Genius), a mockery of cocktails, and includes a dialogue by René Benjamin and 9 large full-page compositions by Paul IRIBE; The third, Bleu blanc rouge, subtitled "France", mocks foreign drinks and is illustrated with 6 compositions by Paul IRIBE, including four fold-outs. The copy is complete with the two-leaf pamphlet illustrated by Charles MARTIN, entitled "Le Service des vins doit être une symphonie", in the first volume. A very fine copy, inside very fresh and free of foxing, with minor flaws to the covers, which have retained their original crystal paper (with small tears). Superb set.
