[POST-INCUNABULUM] ERASMUS - *De duplici copia verborum ac rerum, commentarii duo*, n.p., n.d. [title page missing] (in the colophon: Albert Pafraet, 1518, [Deventer, Netherlands]) A very rare edition in Gothic type, printed in Deventer, of this textbook devoted to the teaching of rhetoric and logic. It was written at the request of Jean Colet (1467–1519) for the students of St. Paul’s School in London. The original edition was published in 1512; however, this edition is no less rare and is beautifully produced. 19th-century fawn half-calf binding; front cover detached; decorated spine with black title label. A tear with no loss, restored on the last leaf; slight foxing. Small loss at the top cap; stains on the spine. Gothic quarto, 42 leaves. Provenance: Du Plessis Villoutreys Library, with a coat-of-arms bookplate bearing the motto “Say little, do better.”
